Welcome to this short online book about understanding pain. My hope is that this resource will give you all the foundational knowledge to help you make sense of persistent pain and begin to change the way you approach dealing with it.
But before we get started I want to introduce you to the poster-boy of pain science, Professor Lorimer Moseley, and his entertaining TedTalk that gives an overview of what is going on with pain.
It’s well worth 15 minutes of your time, as it begins to open up your mind to viewing pain differently. At the end he hints at the possibility that you can use this knowledge to help you change persistent pain, but he doesn’t have time to explain what how. This online book aims to fill that missing piece.
So stick around, because after the video we’ll dive deeper. I’ll continue to keep this light and jargon free, and hopefully by the end of the following chapters you’ll have a clear idea of how to work with your persistent pain and make life more comfortable.
So without further ado, here’s professor Lorimer Moseley…
Okay. I hope you enjoyed the video. Let’s now dig into the weeds and deepen our understanding of persistent pain.
